The 100 Hectares Red Wine Sousão stages for 9 months on French oak barrels. It is produced with grapes coming from Quinta Nossa Senhora da Conceição and Quinta da Marialva.
Quinta Nossa Senhora da Conceição is located in Peso da Régua, this place is an absolute beauty and its alignment is a particular one because it looks like a fingerprint. Its position in Baixo Corgo privileges it on the wine production of Douro and Oporto, taking advantage of excellent conditions such as unique microclimates, and excellent sunlight exposure, capable of creating complex, intense, and concentrated wines.
The grapes are selected in the cut and later are transported in boxes directly to the cellar. The winemaking process consists of total crushing and destemming.
The fermentation happens in an open lagar with a controlled temperature.
The 100 Hectares wines, a name that has its origin in the total area that belongs to the brothers André Brás and Filipe Brás. These wines are family wines and are produced with the daily hard work of those who want to obtain excellence. This family owns an enormous passion for the Douro region- it can be seen in the investments that are made to buy or renovate lands in that region. The lands are the origin of its wines, they are made exclusively with grapes coming from its lands, something that is the center of the family production philosophy because its duty on passing the legacy from generation to generation is a deep-rooted feeling since the 1970s. Their philosophy is "The land was not given to us by our parents, but borowed by our children" (In Portuguese “A terra não nos foi doada pelos nossos pais, mas emprestada pelos nossos filhos”).
